HOLLADAY — A man shot by Unified police over the weekend following a half-hour standoff has died from his injuries, police announced Wednesday.

Matthew Hilbelink, 39, of Millcreek, passed away Tuesday night, according to police.

Hilbelink was shot on Saturday in a parking structure in Holladay. Unified police attempted to negotiate with the armed man for about 30 minutes before something happened and shots were fired at 1:13 p.m., according to police. It was not known Wednesday what prompted police to shoot or if Hilbelink fired his weapon.
