SALT LAKE CITY — A middle-aged man was shot and killed Wednesday afternoon on Harrison Avenue between State and Major Streets in Salt Lake City, according to Salt Lake police.
The shooting happened at around 5:30 p.m., and the victim died on scene, police said. Law enforcement is continuing to investigate. They have said there is no danger to the public.
“We think it was an isolated incident between the suspect and the deceased gentleman,” said Salt Lake police detective Greg Wilking.

Police are less sure about what caused the shooting.

“Whether it’s a disagreement or a robbery gone bad, we’re still looking into that and trying to figure that part out,” he said.
The area of the killing is known for being high in drug traffic and prostitution, according to Wilking, so there is often a police presence in the vicinity.
No information has been released about the suspect or suspects, but the police aren’t worried about finding the shooter.
“We feel pretty confident with this being out in the street, in daylight, that we’ll be able to figure out who was involved,” Wilking said.
