MONTICELLO — A Blanding woman is facing felony charges for allegedly being intoxicated when her vehicle crashed, killing one of her passengers.
Miranda Mae Black, 32, was charged Thursday in San Juan County’s 7th District Court with automobile homicide, a second-degree felony; DUI, a third-degree felony; and two counts of DUI, a class A misdemeanor.
The crash happened on June 23 on County Road 268 outside of Blanding, according to charging documents.
According to a search warrant affidavit served shortly after the crash, five people, including Black, were initially taken to the hospital.
“I was told by Miranda, ‘We had a few drinks before we left.’ I could smell the odor of alcohol coming from her breath as she spoke to me,” the warrant states.
Black said she “lost control” of the car before it “went off the road and flipped over,” according to the warrant.
