President Donald Trump gave Utah a quick shoutout during the Republican National Convention Monday night.

  • Trump appeared in a brief video in which he spoke with hostages who have been returned to the United States.
  • One of those hostages included Josh Holt, a young man from Utah who survived being in a Venezuelan prison.

  • “It was a great honor to meet you when I got back,” Holt said. “It’s been great to be back.”

And then, Trump gave a shoutout to the Beehive State:

  • Trump: “The great people of Utah wanted me to do something about it.”
  • Trump: “Say hello to the folks in Utah because they’re great people.” 

Holt’s story has been a subject of national headlines for years now. His story was recently chronicled in the the KSL Podcast, “Hope In Darkness” as well.
