SALT LAKE CITY — A Salt Lake man was arrested after child porn was found in his dumpster, according to police.
Geoffrey Gus Panos, 68, was arrested Thursday for investigation of 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail.
The investigation began on June 26 when “photos that appeared to be child pornography” were found in a dumpster at the North Six Apartment Complex, 50 N. 600 West, according to a police affidavit. Also found in the dumpster were documents with Panos’ name, the affidavit states.
On Thursday, Panos went to the Salt Lake City Police Department to be interviewed.
“During the interview Geoffrey admitted to downloading, printing, and throwing away the photographs that were discarded in the dumpster along with his identifying documents. Geoffrey admitted to downloading the photographs for sexual gratification. Geoffrey alluded that he used electronic devices in his apartment to download and view child pornography,” the affidavit states.
Panos was arrested following the interview. Police were continuing their investigation to determine if any child porn had been downloaded onto Panos’ phone.
