LAYTON — A man was killed in Layton Saturday night after suffering multiple gunshot wounds, according to Layton Police Sgt. Eric Smith.

The victim was found outside in the street near Golden Avenue and Church Street at about 8 p.m., Smith said. There was nobody else in the area. The man was transported to a hospital by the Layton Fire Department where he succumbed to his wounds.

Police say witnesses heard gunfire and are cooperating with investigation efforts.

Police have no suspect information currently but consider this an active investigation with an active crime scene. They believe the shooting may have been a drive-by, according to Smith. Officials say there is no threat to the public.
