CEDAR CITY — The son of a woman who hasn’t been seen in months was charged Tuesday with abuse or desecration of a dead body, a third-degree felony.
Joshua James Glover, 32, of Cedar City, was also charged in Iron County’s 5th District Court with failing to stop at an officer’s command, two counts of possession of a firearm by a restricted person, and two counts of unlawful possession of a financial card, third-degree felonies; drug possession, a class A misdemeanor; interfering with an arresting officer, a class B misdemeanor; and no proof of insurance, a class C misdemeanor.
Police are also calling Glover a homicide suspect in connection with the suspected death of his mother, Kay Gosewisch, 73, who has not been seen in months.
Human remains were recently found on the property where Gosewisch lived with her son. Those remains were sent to the Utah State Medical Examiner’s Office for identification and to try and determine a cause of death.
Court documents list the date of the alleged abuse of a dead body as April 14.
The investigation into the bizarre case began in July when police were called to conduct a welfare check and were called again on Aug. 18 when investigators learned of suspicious activity on Gosewisch’s bank account.
Charging documents say that since April, Glover made more than 30 withdrawals from her checking account and the woman has not been seen entering the bank, which employees say is unusual for her.
The bank manager told investigators Glover made frequent withdrawals from his mother’s account, draining it below normal amounts, according to the charges.
A warrant was issued for Glover’s arrest on Sept. 1 when he was charged with illegally using his mother’s bank account, according to court records. Police found him Saturday and arrested him following a chase,
