Utah will see a new round of fresh snow, which will certainly excite skiers and snowboarders but disappoint commuters.
What’s going on?
Utah currently has two major alerts related to winter weather — an avalanche watch for the mountains and a winter weather advisory for the Wasatch Mountains.
- “A winter storm is still on track to impact Utah and southwest Wyoming Friday into Sunday,” according to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City. “We’re expecting significant snow accumulations in the mountains, with the potential for some valley impacts as well.”
The details
KSL Weather explained what’s going to happen with the new batch of snow and rain.
- A winter weather storm will approach Utah from the South.
- Rain will develop in the Wasatch Front and valleys on Friday. Snow will fall in the mountains.
- Temperatures will drop early Saturday morning, which will bring snow to the valley.
- Snow showers will be on and off on Saturday.
- The snowfall will end on Sunday.
But uncertainty remains
Per National Weather Service, confidence is high that there will be mountain snow. But there’s uncertainty about how much snow will accumulate in the valley.
