TOOELE — An 18-year-old man died when the pickup truck he was driving crossed into oncoming traffic in snowy conditions Saturday night, the Utah Highway Patrol reported.

According to agent Colton Freckleton, a southbound Dodge Ram 2500 was being driven “too fast for the conditions” on state Route 36 south of Tooele around 9 p.m. Saturday. The driver lost control and the pickup hopped a concrete barrier and ended up facing east in the northbound lanes where a Ford F150 pickup broadsided the Dodge.

Both vehicles ended up off the highway.

The driver of the Dodge was pronounced dead at the scene, Freckleton said, while a man and woman in the Ford were both critically injured and taken to a local hospital. Three children in the Ford suffered either minor or no injuries.
