PARAGONAH, Iron County — A 5-year-old girl was killed in a crash on I-15 in southern Utah on Sunday.

About 3:50 p.m., traffic was slowing on I-15 due to debris in the road near the border of Beaver and Iron counties.

“A Mazda CX-9 was in the process of slowing down. A Toyota Tacoma attempted to change lanes but was unable to avoid the Mazda,” according to a statement from the Utah Highway Patrol.

The Mazda was then pushed into the rear of Infiniti QX50. A 5-year-old girl in the Mazda, who was in a child restraint seat, was killed, the UHP stated. No one else in the vehicle suffered serious injuries.
