SALT LAKE CITY — A man was arrested Sunday after police say he took off all his clothes on the lawn of the state Capitol and ran up the stairs.
The incident happened about 2:20 p.m. when Capitol security was notified of “an individual who was ‘streaking’ on the Grand Staircase of the Utah State Capitol.”
Officers arrived to find a naked 33-year-old man “yelling” at the Capitol doors from the plaza on the south side of the complex, a police affidavit states.
Because it was a warm day in Salt Lake City, “multiple families with small children were in the grassy park area of the Capitol complex” at the time of the incident, according to the affidavit.
The man was arrested for investigation of lewdness involving a child. His clothing, including his pants with his driver’s license inside, were found in the middle of the south lawn, police said.
