Two men have been charged in connection with a home invasion robbery last fall in Eagle Mountain during which a man was gagged and bound, according to police.
Alan Kay Justesen, 33, of Price, was charged March 26 in 4th District Court with aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony.
On Wednesday, Eric Ray Averett, 35, of Cedar City, was also charged with aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony, in connection with the same incident.
On Sept. 6, police were called to a possible home invasion at an Eagle Mountain apartment, according to charging documents.
“When officers arrived they found the victim had been tied up with duct tape. The victim’s roommate had found him with his hands tied behind his back, his feet tied, and his mouth taped shut,” the charges state.
The victim told investigators that two men had entered his apartment through a sliding door, “pointed a gun at him, hit him in the face and tied him up” while repeatedly asking, “Where is your stash?” according to the charges.
The men took the victim’s Oxycodone prescription, about $1,800 cash and one to two grams of heroin, the charges state.
Detectives were able to identify Justesen as a possible suspect after a lengthy investigation. When police spoke to the wife of one of the suspects, she said her husband had gone to Eagle Mountain to rob the victim and “that they came back with more heroin than she had ever seen. She stated that the defendant and close friends had used the heroin over the course of the next four months,” according to the charges.
