A wildfire burning east of Springville and Mapleton resulted in the evacuation of homes and RVs in Hobble Creek Canyon on Thursday evening.
The fire, which was first reported about 5 p.m., has been dubbed the Cherry Fire. It has burned up to 150 acres and is growing, according to a social media post from the Utah County Sheriff’s Office.
As of 10 p.m., Right Fork Hobble Creek is evacuated from Jolley’s Ranch to Springville Crossing, Utah County Emergency Management said in an emergency alert. The evacuation is expected to remain in place until Sunday evening “unless extended due to the fire behavior,” the alert said.
Crews from multiple fire departments are responding to the blaze.
Officials asked people to stay out of the area as crews fight the fire.
