Local artists presented one-of-a-kind candy window displays crafted from hundreds of pounds of sugar snacks at Macy’s City Creek last week, kicking the holiday season off to a sweet start.
Six talented artist from the Salt Lake City-area carefully selected a assortment of treats — including jelly beans, gumdrops, candy canes, lollipops and gingerbread — to create elaborate supersized candy ornaments. Each display is inspired by the artists own holiday experiences.
This marks the 14th year since Macy’s resumed its tradition of unveiling candy window displays, a holiday custom that dates back to the early 1970s.
“For this year’s windows, the theme is ‘The Most Wonderful Stories Start Here,’” Alicia Richmond, a Macy’s Spokesperson, said in a comment shared with the Deseret News.
“Your eyes will delight in the whimsical designs of sparking candy and nostalgia. Continue the tradition of the holiday season by visiting the Macy’s Candy Windows or start a new family tradition this year!”
Now through the holiday season, Salt Lake City locals and visitors can drop by Macy’s City Creek and take a look at this year’s candy window displays.
