A 59-year-old man was critically injured after a fall at Mount Superior Tuesday.

Salt Lake County sheriff’s search and rescue crews responded to a report of a fallen backcountry skier and said preliminary information “indicates the skier fell a significant distance and sustained critical injuries.”

The man was extracted from the area by a Utah Department of Public Service helicopter and was then flown to a local hospital for treatment.

No other information was provided.
