Organizers with Pro Skijor kicked off their first-ever Frontier Tour skijoring event Friday with competition at the Wasatch Event Center in Cedar City.

The nation’s top riders, skiers and horses will be battling for cash prizes and a championship title in the event, set for Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The all-new Frontier Tour brings horsepower, snow and high-speed thrills to six cities this winter, culminating in Championship Weekend in Salt Lake City on Feb. 27 to March 1.

Founded by Utah skijoring pioneers Brian Gardner and Joe Loveridge, along with media executives Greg Lipstone and Chris Castallo, the league blends top-level competition with the heritage of the American West to forge a bold new chapter in winter sports.

In skijoring, a horse and rider pull a skier through a snow-packed course featuring jumps, gates and obstacles. You can learn more at proskijor.com.
