Photo gallery: Shoes giveaway warms children’s feet, all our hearts

Keeping warm socks and shoes on schoolchildren’s feet is a challenge for parents around the nation, but a nationwide spring effort led by FedEx Cares and Operation Warm helped hundreds of students at a Salt Lake City elementary school received a useful and fun gift on Wednesday.

FedEx team members and volunteers gathered to unpack, size, and fit about 380 students on-site at Backman Elementary School, ensuring each child left with the right pair for comfort, confidence and daily school life.

In all, thousands of pairs of shoes have been delivered to children at 25-plus schools across the U.S. and Canada.

Operation Warm is a national nonprofit that provides shoes and coats to children in need, while FedEx Cares is FedEx’s global community engagement program.
