The Benedict Canyon home has six bedrooms, 71/2 bathrooms, two maids quarters, 10 fireplaces, a granite kitchen, pool, spa, gym and atrium with electronic skylight, according to the listing with the Alvarez, Hyland & Young real estate firm. The home had been listed for $6.5 million.

"He has purchased it," confirmed Murphy publicist Terry Williams, who said Wednesday she couldn't provide any details on the sale.

Williams said Murphy wanted homes on both coasts. The actor-comedian has a home in New Jersey, and usually stays at the L'Ermitage Hotel in Beverly Hills when in the Los Angeles area, she said.
