A Weber County man was charged with criminal homicide Wednesday after a two-year investigation into what appeared to be the suicide death of his wife in Clearfield.

Thomas W. Randolph Jr., 33, Roy, was charged with first-degree criminal homicide in the Nov. 11, 1986, death of his wife, Becky Rae Gault Randolph. Mrs. Randolph was found dead of a gunshot wound to the head in their Clearfield home at 2265 S. First West, Clearfield Police Lt. Steve Layton said.Layton said the death was first reported as a suicide but Clearfield police detectives, along with the Davis County attorney's office, continued an investigation into "other factors" in the death, leading to the charge.

Layton declined to detail the "other factors," pending an arraignment and preliminary hearing for Randolph, who was arrested Wednesday afternoon at his Roy home.

Randolph was held Wednesday night in the Davis County Jail on a no-bail arrest warrant and was to be arraigned Thursday in 2nd Circuit Court, Clearfield.
