Mary Lou Romney won the $1,000 first-place prize in the American Mothers' National Fine Arts competition for her painting, "Cape Primrose." The competition was held in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in conjunction with the American Mothers, Inc., convention. She teaches art at the University of Utah, specializing in Oriental ink painting methods. She and her husband, Paul, recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. Members of the East Mill Creek 7th Ward in Salt Lake City, they are parents of seven children and have 17 grandchildren.
