Do grocery baggers really care about how they put your groceries in the sack?The Utah Retail Grocers Association believes they do and to prove it will sponsor a bagging contest as part of the annual convention and trade show Sept. 19-20 in the Salt Palace Exhibit Hall 1.
About 37 contestants have participated in preliminary contests in their own stores and will bag groceries in the Sept. 20 competition with others from all parts of Utah. Baggers will be judged on speed, arrangement, weight distribution, efficient use of sacks, style and attitude.
Judges for the competition will be URGA officials. The contest is sponsored by Placo Inc.
The winner of the Utah contest will compete in a bagging contest sponsored by the National Grocers Association Jan. 30-31, 1989, in Las Vegas.
