Erik C. Meyer, manager of business development for FB&D, said the kiln will be rated at 150 million British thermal units allowing the destruction of the wastes at temperatures of 2,400 degrees Fahrenheit. A similar system designed for DuPont's Sabine River Works in Orange, Texas, is now under construction.FB&D's parent firm is Deutsche Babcock, which introduced kilns for hazardous wastes more than 20 years ago. Five of the kilns are operating in the United States and six others are in the design stage, Meyer said.
