Wicat Systems Inc. founder and chief executive through 1987, Dustin H. Heuston, has resigned.

Since 1987, Heuston has been serving as vice chairman of the company and has been employed primarily in education marketing and strategic planning.The company said Heuston resigned to more actively pursue his role as chairman of the non-profit Waterford Institute.

Heuston and his wife Nancy also resigned from Wicat's board of directors.

Wilcat said Heuston will continue as a consultant with the company on an "as needed" basis.
