ShopKo Stores Inc., a discount retail chain based in Green Bay, Wis., continues its rapid expansion in Utah by announcing its 12th store that is scheduled to be open in 1990.

The new store would be in the Riverdale area of Ogden, pending proposals for zoning changes now before the City Council and redevelopment agency. This would also be the second ShopKo store in Ogden.ShopKo entered Utah in 1988 with seven stores. This year the discount chain opened stores in West Valley City and Logan, with construction scheduled to begin soon in Orem.

In addition to the proposed store in Riverdale, ShopKo announced earlier this month plans to build in Brigham City.
