Stake presidencies should do everything possible and appropriate to enhance the call and the installation of Melchizedek Priesthood leaders and to provide effective initial and ongoing training:

The Call- Wherever possible, a member of the stake presidency should extend the call.

The Installation (Sustaining)

- Wherever possible, have the high priests group leaders and elders quorum presidencies sustained in the quorums by the stake presidency.

- Wherever possible, the stake president or one of his counselors should introduce the new group leaders or quorum presidencies in a sacrament meeting, speak about the importance of the priesthood leader's role in the Church and have the new leaders respond.

The Initial Training

- Within two or three weeks following the calling, the stake Melchizedek Priesthood committee should provide for initial training on important scriptures, study guides, the Melchizedek Priesthood Handbook, and priesthood guides.

Ongoing Training

- Weekly training by participation in priesthood executive committee and ward council meetings.

- Training by stake high council as needed.

- Personal priesthood interviews by stake presidency.

- Quarterly stake leadership training meetings.

View Comments

- Reviewing the many videos produced to train leaders on various aspects of their responsibilities.

Other Actions
