Winning $55 million in Florida's lottery changed Sheelah Ryan's life. She bought a new house and a car. But much of the money goes to a foundation that helps single mothers, abused women and lonely senior citizens.

"A year ago I wished I could win the lottery so I could buy whatever I want and never have to look at another price tag again. My wish came true, but I still look at the price tags," she said.The former real-estate saleswoman heads the Ryan Foundation, which is building low-cost housing and paying overdue rents to spare single mothers and their children from eviction. Ryan also wants to create a fund to grant wishes to elderly people.
