The Trappers wasted no time in signing another pure second baseman following the opening-practice loss to a finger injury of projected starter J.D. Ramirez, who will be out a couple of weeks.
Player director Van Schley contacted his top choice, Eddie Garczyk of West Liberty Valley State in West Virginia, and Garczyk reported to the Traps Wednesday night. "We thought he'd get drafted, but he wasn't," said Schley, who said Garczyk was the best second-base prospect he saw in an NAIA regional tournament.
