Ventura Entertainment Group Ltd. has completed its $6.6 million purchase of the Osmond Media Center, the Utah production facility of the Osmond entertainment family, company officials have announced.
The 100,000-square-foot facility in Orem will be renamed the Ventura Media Center. James Osmond, a former singer with the Osmond family and head of an entertainment company in the Far East, has been named president and a member of VEG's board of directors.The center has three sound stages, rehearsal studios, a recording studio, post-production areas and separate carpentry, paint and prop shops.
"We plan to initiate a major TV production schedule of our own productions, as well as offering other TV production companies, cable systems and television networks the opportunity to use the center," VEG President Irwin Meyer said in a statement Monday.
The facility was built in 1979 by the Osmond family to service its production needs and those of the industry. Television programs, including "The Donny and Marie Show," commercials and theatrical motion pictures have been produced there.
Ventura Entertainment Group is a publicly traded company in the over-the-counter market. Formed in May 1988, VEG develops and produces network and syndicated series, mini-series and music and variety specials for domestic and international markets.
