Dr. William F. Edwards, 83, a former Brigham Young University vice president and financial advisor to the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, died Aug. 13, 1989, of cancer.
Dr. Edwards was an emeritus professor at both the University of Utah and BYU.Dr. Edwards and his wife, Katherine, received the David O. McKay Humanities Award from BYU in August 1974.
Dr. Edwards was also a former dean of the BYU College of Commerce, executive vice president of First Security Bank of Utah, and an investment analyst and executive with New York banking and investment firms. He served as secretary of finance for the LDS First Presidency from 1957 to 1961.
Dr. Edwards was born in Emery, Emery County, and graduated from BYU, later receiving a doctorate from New York University.
Funeral will be at noon Wednesday, Aug. 16, in the Pleasant View 6th Ward chapel, 2445 N. 650 East, Provo. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church, or from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, at the Berg Mortuary, 185 E. Center St.
