Los Angeles Lakers All-Star forward James Worthy pleaded no contest to charges of solicitation of prostitution and was put on probation for one year and fined $500, court officials said Friday.

Worthy, 29, notified Harris County Court-at-Law officials that he was ready to plead no contest, and he entered that plead to the misdemeanor Thursday, attorneys said.Worthy, the Lakers' leading scorer, was arrested Nov. 15 after he allegedly called an escort service from his hotel room and requested two women. Police said phone calls to the escort service were being monitored by the vice squad.
