Ernest Albert (Bert) Strong, Jr., 73, died March 17, 1990 at Mt. View Hospital in Payson.

Born October 18, 1916 in Springville, son of Ernest A. and Norma Bringhurst Strong. Married Harriett Miner October 26, 1938 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Lifelong resident of Springville. Active throughout his life in church and civic affairs. Served an LDS mission to Australia. He has been devoted to the church his entire life and served in numerous positions, including Bishop and Stake President for 14 years. He served a mission with his wife to the Fiji Islands. He was currently serving as Patriarch for the Hobble Creek Stake and as a temple worker in the Provo Temple. His was a life of service to family, church, and the community. He served as a city councilman, a director of Central Bank and Trust, and was on the Board of directors of Assoc. General Contractors. With his family, he was owner and operator of Strong Construction Co.Survived by wife; seven children, Don R. Strong; Mrs. Kenneth (Roslyn) Averett, Springville; Mrs. James (Suzanne) Wiscombe, Mapleton; Mrs. LeGrande (Nancy) Boyer, Kingsport, Tenn.; Mrs. Mary Stewart; Darrel B. Strong, Salt Lake City; Mrs. John (Katie) Callister, Payson; also a foster son, Glen X. Taylor, Gallup, N.M.; 30 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, John F. Strong; two sisters, Mrs. Carl (Lucille) Peterson; and Mrs. Grant (Jane) Richins.

Funeral Tuesday, March 20, 1 p.m., Hobble Creek Stake Center, 525 South Averett Avenue. Friends may call At Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, Monday, 6-8 p.m. or Tuesday at the church one hour prior to service. Burial, Evergreen Cemetery.
