A fire raced through a Hindu temple in the southern Kerala state, sparking explosions in a huge stock of fireworks and killing 25 people, local news reports said Saturday.

The blaze injured 77 others after it erupted Friday night on the last day of a 10-day festival that was to end with a colorful fireworks display outside the Hindu temple near Quilon, 1,405 miles southwest of New Delhi, state-run All-India Radio and the Press Trust of India news agency reported.They said the flames first flickered from a building in the forecourt of the temple and within minutes lit the huge stock of fireworks, igniting a series of explosions.
