James O. Cononelos, beloved husband, father and papou, passed away June 20, 1990 in Salt Lake City.
Born July 26, 1915 in McGill, Nevada to Louis James and Nina Tsacopoulos Cononelos. Graduate Athens College, Athens, Greece and the University of Utah in 1939. Enlisted in the US Army, Veteran World War II. Married Beryl Dizikes on June 4, 1944. Worked at Kennecott Copper Corp. and Hill Air Force Base where he retired in 1969. Member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church where he served on the Parish Council for 12 years. Active in the preservation of Greek Immigrant historical records. Member of Argenta Lodge #3, Scottish Rite, 32 degree, Shriner and York Rite of Free Masonry. Lifetime member of D.A.V., member U. of U. Crimson Club.
He is survived by his wife, son and daughter, Louie and wife, Michael Ann; Nina and husband, Brent Berry, brother, Solon, Ely, Nevada; sisters, Mrs. Herbert (Philanthy) Mann, San Francisco; Mrs. Robert (Marie) McElroy and Mrs. Helen Diumenti, both Salt Lake City; four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, 2 p.m., June 25, 1990 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 279 South 300 West. Friends may call at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 So. Highland Drive on Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. and also on Monday from 1:00-1:30 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
