Rejoice, Peaks freaks! ABC has finally scheduled reruns of that strange but wonderful series "Twin Peaks."

The two-hour premiere of the gothic soap opera has been scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 5 at 8 p.m. MDT. And beginning Aug. 11 the network will rerun the seven one-hour episodes on Saturdays at 9 p.m. (the series' new time slot in the fall). As we all learned, watching these nine hours is not going to answer the question, "Who killed Laura Palmer?" But not only is this a chance for people who loved the series to check for clues they missed the first time around, but it's a chance for people who didn't watch the series to see what all the fuss was about.

So plan those donut parties or set those VCRs.

PARADISE RENEWED: Remember when CBS canceled "Paradise?" Well, forget it.

Although the network had announced that the series was history, it changed its mind. The western series starring Lee Horsely has been given an eight-show pickup and will reappear sometime next season.

As usual, this means when something else gets canceled "Paradise" will be moved in to take its place.

And that just might be back on Saturday nights. CBS has a series scheduled for that night that's sort of an environmental "Mission: Impossible" and it looks like a sure bomb.

Don't ask Mr. Spud what the name of that series is. CBS can't seem to make up its mind. So far its been through several titles, including "The Green Machine," "The Elite" and "E.A.R.T.H. Force."

AS LISA TURNS: Broadway and film star Jane Powell will join the cast of "As the World Turns" - temporarily - on July 18.

Powell, who's best known as the female lead in the film "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers," will replace the ailing Eileen Fulton as Lisa Mitchell - a role Fulton has played for the past 30 years.

"I can't fill her shoes," Powell said. "I'll just keep them warm."

"As the World Turns" airs locally weekdays at 11 a.m. on Ch. 5.

AND THE MURDERER IS . . . : Mr. Spud still doesn't know who killed Laura Palmer. He does, however, have a theory. But we'll deal with that this fall when the show returns with new episodes.

The producers of "Twin Peaks" do know who did it. And this time, they promise we'll find out who the killer is in the two-hour season premiere.

Co-creator Mark Frost insists he never made such a promise this past spring. As a matter of fact, he has admitted he left things up in the air to more or less force ABC to bring the series back this fall.

Now, if we don't find out who dunnit in September, even Mr. Spud will probably blow a gasket.

21 JUMPS BACK: Cancellation by Fox wasn't the end of "21 Jump Street" either.

Producer Stephen J. Cannell has announced his company will produce at least 22 new episodes of the show for first-run syndication.

But there's bad news for the teenage gal fans of "Jump Street." Heart throb Johnny Depp has already quit the show to go make movies. (Apparently, the fact that Depp's Cry Baby" feature bombed escaped his notice.)

Not to worry, however. Even now, Cannell is searching for a new young hunk to take Depp's place. Or maybe he can get Richard Grieco to come back since his "Booker" was also dumped by Fox - but don't bet on it.
