Changes in Wheeler Farm activity rates include a first-ever entrance fee scheduled to begin Nov. 1:
- Admission is free for children under 3 and for participants in farm programs or special events; $1 for adults and 50 cents for children age 3-11 and adults 65 or older.- Annual admission passes are $15 for individuals and $25 for families. Admission price includes a house and farm tour and "historic skills" demonstrations such as ropemaking, blacksmithing, wool cording, lacemaking and tatting, beehive tending and other farm chores and operations.
- All visitors are admitted free before 9:30 a.m. or after 5 p.m. March 15 through Nov. 15. Admission is free before 1 p.m. and after 5 p.m. Nov. 16 through March 14.
- The recently constructed Activity Barn will rent beginning Sept. 1 for $100 per evening Mondays through Thursdays and $150 per evening Friday, Saturday and holidays. The Parks and Recreation Department suggested the bar could be rented for $30 per hour before 5 p.m., but the hourly charge is still being debated.
- Farm and house tours previously cost 50 cents per person but are now free with admission.
- Picnic area, stage or party house rental will increase to $30 per half day.
- Haunted Woods charges of $2.50 for children age 3-11 increases to $3. All admissions are $2 with a product sponsor's discount.
- Celebration of Christmas rates will increase from $4 to $5 for general admission; $3 to $4 with product-sponsor discounts; and $2.50 to $3 for children age 3-11.
