The Shelby County Election Commission on Monday certified the results of the Oct. 3 election, the closest in the city's history.Herenton got 122,596 votes, or 49.44 percent, and two-term Mayor Richard Hackett got 122,454 votes, or 49.38 percent, the commission said.
