Mike Hill closed with a 5-under-par 67 to capture the Senior PGA Tour's money title with a two upstroke victory over Jim Colbert in the season-ending $1 million Senior Champions on Sunday at Dorado, Puerto Rico.
Hill collected $150,000 as the tournament winner and another $150,000 from a season-long bonus pool to close with $1,065,657 in earnings. And, like Lee Trevino a year ago, Hill surpassed the total of the leader on the regular tour: Corey Pavin with $979,430.He finished with a 14-under 202 total on the 6,740-yard Hyatt Dorado Beach course. The victory was Hill's fifth this season and virtually clinched the Senior Player of the Year award.
At Princeville, Hawaii, defending champion Betsy King defeated Dawn Coe 2 and 1 on Sunday to advance to the semifinals of the rain-delayed LPGA World Match Play Championship.
In other quarterfinal matches, Deb Richard defeated Kristi Albers 3 and 2, Michelle Estill beat Tina Barrett 4 and 3 and Chris Tschetter defeated Martha Nause 1-up.
In today's semifinal matches, King was scheduled to play Tschetter and Richard opposed Estill.
