To the editor:
Thanks to Thurl Bailey for some great basketball over the past year. The excitement, thrills and talent he brought to the Jazz were truly great and appreciated.However, more important to me and my family is an example that showed there is more to life than basketball or any other sport. That yes, you can be a great basketball player and still dare to play the piano or be a gourmet cook or take some time with the ill or the less fortunate.
Today, as in the past, raising children is not easy. Our kids look up to many of our great sports figures as heroes - Thurl Bailey certainly fits into this mold. Thank you, Thurl, for what you left in our community. You will be missed.
