Tanner is one of approximately 1,500 grantees who will travel abroad during the 1990-91 academic year under the Fulbright Program. Established in 1946 under congressional legislation introduced by former Senator J. William Fulbright of Arkansas, the program is designed "to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries."
