The First Presidency has announced the calling of eight more mission presidents. Specific assignments for the presidents and their wives will be announced later. They will begin their service about July 1. Those called are:
Van F. Dunn Jr., 57, Mt. Olympus 2nd Ward, Salt Lake Mt. Olympus Stake; bishop, former bishop's counselor, high councilor, Scoutmaster and Temple Square Guide; vice president with financial corporation; received bachelor's degree in business finance from Utah State University; born in Ogden, Utah, a son of Van Frances and Dorothy Hansen Baker Dunn; married Janis Bergeson; five children. She is a Relief Society teacher, former stake athletic director, ward girls' athletic coach, Young Women adviser, Relief Society counselor, Primary teacher and chorister, drama director and ward organist; attended Utah State University studying secretarial science; born in Logan, Utah, a daughter of Douglas Allen and Beryl Bown Bergeson.
Garry R. Flake, 48, Lomas Ward, Mexico City Chapultepec Stake; former Young Men adviser, Sunday School teacher, high councilor, bishop, stake executive secretary and seminary teacher; served in the Mexican and Southeast Mexican missions, 1961-63; director for temporal affairs for the Church in the Mexico Area; received master's degree in economics from Utah State University and bachelor's degree in agricultural economics from Arizona State University; born in Snowflake, Ariz., a son of Bruce Merlin and Irene Stratton Flake; married Janet Hamilton; five children. She is a stake Relief Society president, former ward Relief Society president, Young Women adviser, counselor in ward Primary presidency, and ward organist and chorister; received bachelor's degree in home management from Utah State University; born in Tremonton, Utah, a daughter of Melvin Spencer and Alice Gertrude Jenkins Hamilton.
Howard R. Francis, 61, Oak Hills 6th Ward, Provo Utah Oak Hills Stake; teacher development director; former missionary training center branch president, stake Young Men board member, assistant in high priests group leadership, bishop, elders quorum president and counselor, and high councilor; obstetrician-gynecologist; received medical degree from Cornell University Medical College and bachelor's degree in Spanish from BYU; born in Lake Shore, Utah, a son of Ronald Grant and Elizabeth Maude Howard Francis; married Deanne Tanner; six children. Daniel L. Johnson, 44, Garden Heights North Ward, Salt Lake Wilford Stake; bishop, former mission president's counselor, stake mission president, stake president's counselor and gospel doctrine teacher; treasurer for the Church; received bachelor's degree in accounting and economics from BYU; born in Colonia Juarez, Mexico, a son of Leroy and Rita Skousen Johnson; married LeAnn Holman; six children. Mark Charles Nelson, 41, Idaho Falls 35th Ward, Idaho Falls Idaho South Stake; stake president's counselor; former bishop, high councilor and Young Men president; served in the Argentina North Mission, 1969-71; owner and president of a custom wheel wholesale business; received bachelor's degree in business management from BYU; born in Salt Lake City, Utah, a son of Glenn Crump and Emma Jane Thornton Nelson; married Christine Haymond; four children. She is a Primary teacher, former Relief Society spiritual living and social relations teacher, Young Women adviser; owner and director of a finishing and modeling school; born in Provo, Utah, a daughter of Dean Welby and Mildred Winona Davies Haymond.
William L. Riley, 51, Mt. Rose 2nd Ward, Reno Nevada Stake; stake president, former high counselor, counselor in Stake Sunday School presidency, bishop, ward Young Men president, stake mission president and gospel doctrine teacher; Church Educational System coordinator, director and instructor; received doctorate in education administration and master's degree in ancient and modern scripture from BYU and bachelor's degrees in Spanish, speech and drama from Santa Ana Community College, California State University at Fullerton, and BYU; born in Pocatello, Idaho, a son of Frederick William and Nina Ruth Law Riley; married Kathleen N. Wooton; six children. E Doyle Robison, 63, Edgemont 14th Ward, Provo Utah Edgemont Stake; stake president's counselor, former high priests group leader, branch president, district president, bishop and stake mission president; served mission in Sweden, 1946-49; director of Skaggs Institute of Retail Management at BYU; received master's degree in retailing from New York University, bachelor's degree in business from BYU; born in Fillmore, Utah, a son of Aaron Wayne and Fern Ashby Robison; married Beth Spencer; five children. Queed H. Weiler, 61, Monument Park 11th Ward, Salt Lake Monument Park Ward; bishop's counselor, former high councilor, high priests group leader, ward mission leader, Young Men president, and Scoutmaster; served in the Central Atlantic States Missio, 1948-50; vice president with finance business, received bachelor's degree in banking and finance from University of Utah; born in Salt Lake City, Utah, a son of William Frank and Octavo May Holmgren Weiler; married Jean Lambert; six children. Eldon L. Wood, 65, Burley 7th Ward, Burley Idaho West Stake; former high priests group leader, stake music chairman, ward choir director, counselor in stake mission presidency, bishop and counselor, high councilor, and Church building mission supervisor; served in the French Mission, 1952-54; vocal music and French teacher at Cassia County schools; received bachelor's degree in vocal music and French from BYU and in education from the University of Utah; born in Kimberly, Idaho, a son of Roy and Stella Permelia Sudweeks Wood; married Picola Grant Hatch; six children.
