Soul singer Billy Preston was arrested after a 16-year-old boy reported Preston tried to assault him sexually in a barn at the musician's home, authorities said.

Preston, 45, was arrested Sunday for investigation of sexual battery, exhibiting pornographic material to a minor, possession of cocaine and being under the influence of a controlled substance, said Sheriff's Sgt. Bill Spear.The singer was released on $10,000 bail.

The boy said he accepted a ride from Preston and that the musician smoked cocaine in the car and showed him sexually explicit pictures, Spear said.

Preston allegedly took the boy to the barn, showed him more explicit pictures, pushed him to the ground and grabbed him around the chest, Spear said. The boy pushed Preston away and escaped to a neighbor's house, Spear said.
