An employee of Dee's, 4800 S. Highland Drive, said he heard a knock on the back door of the restaurant about 5 a.m. Thursday. Thinking it was another employee, he opened the door. The suspect immediately turned the employee around, stuck a gun into his back and told him to open the safe, a Salt Lake County sheriff's report states. After getting some money from a safe, the gunman ordered the employee downstairs into a caged-off area and then fled. Investigators believe he had been casing the restaurant or knew of some of its operations.
