The Boston Marathon, one of the nation's oldest and most well-known, is accepting applications now for the 1993 event.

And runners who finished the Deseret News Marathon last July and had a qualifying time may use it to register for the Boston event.All Boston participants must have run a qualifying time between Jan. 1, 1992 and Mar. 8, 1993 at a marathon sanctioned by The Athletics Congress. The Deseret News Marathon is one of 310 throughout the world used to qualify for Boston.

At the request of the Boston Athletic Association, results of this year's Deseret News Marathon were mailed recently to verify applications. Entry fee for the race on Monday, April 19, is $35.

Qualifying times range from 3:10:00 for men and 3:40:00 for women age 18-34 to 3:50:00 for men and 4:20:00 for women age 70 and older.

Race applications became available this week and copies may be obtained by sending a 52-cent self-addressed, stamped envelope to Boston Athletic Association, P.O. Box 1993, Hopkinton, MA 01748.
