"In the Line of Duty: Siege at Marion" features several well-known actors.

Ed Begley Jr., in what actually amounts to little more than a cameo, plays slain corrections officer Fred House. Tess Harper is Vicki Singer, and Kyle Secor ("City Slickers") is Addam Swapp.Dennis Franz ("Hill Street Blues") is FBI agent Bob Bryant, and Paul Le Mat is Utah Public Safety Deputy Commissioner Doug Bodrero.

But most of other parts are filled by Utah actors and non-actors. You'll spot Craig Clyde as an agent from the department of Alcohol, Firearms and Tobacco and Richard Clark playing Utah Public Safety Commissioner John T. Nielsen. There are several local news personalities who play TV newspeople, including RebeccaReheis and Jay Kolls of KUTV, Amanda Dickson of KSL-radio and Dave Blackwell of the Jazz radio network.

Director Charles Haid had particular praise for the younger actors who played the Singer and Swapp children.

"We had extraordinarily talented kids in this movie," he said.

Most of the young people are members of the LDS Church.

"We had long discussion about the standoff, about the church," Haid said. "Several of the boys told me that they wanted to be actors, but first they were going to go off on their missions. I thought that was just great."

Among those playing the younger Singers and Swapps are Michael Weatherred as Timothy Singer; Timothy Shoemaker as Jonathan Swapp; Gene Pack as Ramon Swapp; Rachel Tate as Anazella Swapp; Jan Tanner as Heidi Swapp; Josie Scothern as young Heidi; Monique Lanier as Charlotte Swapp; and Gina Tanner as young Charlotte.
