Directions: Follow highway 18 north out of St. George, through Snow Canyon, for about 15 miles, then follow dirt road west about 1 mile for upper reservoir. Go one more mile to Veyo, then take paved road south about five miles to lower reservoir.

Description: Both are lower elevation reservoirs. Upper is circular in shape, while lower is long and narrow. Beautiful red-rock cliffs in the area, along with sagebrushe and cactus. Upper is about 15 surface acres, lower is larger.

Fish: Rainbow trout, largemouth bass

What Works: Traditional baits are best for rainbow, again cheeses, night crawlwers and salmon eggs. Also try spinners, sppons and fly and bubble. For bass try spinner baits and crank baits in shad, minnow and crayfish colors.

Details: Upper Sand cove contains mostly trout, while Lowere Sand cove holds mostly bass. Fish upper water with fly and bubble early morning and late afternoon when temperatures cool. In flies try Wolly Buggers, ant patterns and Renegade Mosquito. Best bass fishing in the spring and fall. Try surface lures like floating Rapala.

Notes: Upper reservoir is planted in March and April, so best fishing is in the spring. Access to Uper Sand Cove generally good, but raod to Lowere Sand Cove cam be a little rough. Nice place for variety - trout in the a.m., bass in the p.m. Also other popular waters in the area - Quail Creek and Baker Dam. Nice camping available in Snow Canyon.
