Winston M. Crawford, 80, former Mayor and long time resident of Orem, died Friday, April 10, 1992 of coronary complications at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, Utah.

He was born October 15, 1911 in Manti, Utah, a son of E. Merriam and May Larson Crawford. He married Ramona Mellor November 6, 1937 in the Manti LDS Temple. He grew up in Manti and attended Snow College, Utah State University, and University of Utah. He lived in Salt Lake, but spent most of his life in Orem.He was Training Director at Geneva Steel before retiring. He was involved with The American Society for Training and Development for 24 years and had served as a Regional Vice-President. He was active in the Orem Chamber of Commerce, serving as President for three years. He served on the Orem City Council four years and as Mayor of Orem for six years. He loved Orem and its people. He also served as an appointee of Governor Cal Rampton on the State Peace Officers Training Council.

He was very active in the LDS Church and had served as Stake Mission President, Bishop's Counselor in the Wasatch Ward, Stake High Councilor, BYU 62nd Ward Bishop, and in many more capacities.

His greatest role was that of father and husband to a family who dearly loves him.

Survivors include his wife, and children, Mrs. Gerald (Carolyn) Perkes, W. Michael Crawford, Dr. J. Christen Crawford, R. Kim Crawford, all of Orem; Mell Crawford, Boise, ID; Mrs. Eric (Margaret) Facer, Centreville, Virg.; 21 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, Calvin Crawford, Phoenix, Ariz.; Maurice Crawford, San Diego, Calif; Maurine McLaughlin, Carol Peacock, both of Salt Lake. Preceded by a brother and sister, Preston and Enid.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 14, at 12 noon in the Orem Sharon Stake Center, 545 South 800 East, Orem. Friends may call Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State, Orem, and Tuesday from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. prior to the services at the stake center. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
