Baseball brieflyThe National League's leading hitter said he no longer considers football his No. 1 occupation and is ready to play full time for the Atlanta Braves.Outfielder Deion Sanders said after Tuesday night's 5-4 loss to the Reds in Cincinnati that, despite another year on his contract with the Falcons, he wants to remain with the Braves until the end of baseball season.
The leadoff hitter, who has hits in all eight games this season, is batting .441 with an on-base percentage of .457. He leads the league in hits with 15, triples with four and is among the leaders in runs with seven.
"The Falcons had their chance last year (to sign him to a new deal) and I really don't care about them right now," Sanders told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution in Cincinnati.
"I'm comfortable with the Braves. I'm a full-time baseball player. This is what is best for Deion."
Falcons officials could not be reached for comment Tuesday.
