Milton R. Rackmil, who helped found Decca Records and later helped steer Universal Pictures to good fortune during a difficult period for movie companies, has died. He was 86.

Rackmil died of a stroke at a nursing home Thursday, his family said.Decca's stars included Bing Crosby, Ella Fitzgerald, Glenn Miller, Guy Lombardo, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Al Jolson, the Andrews Sisters, Woody Herman, Lawrence Welk, the McGuire Sisters and the Four Aces.
