Uwe Preissler claimed the second stage victory for the surprising German amateur team and Dave Mann of Britain retained his slim overall lead Saturday in the third stage of the Tour Du Pont bicycle race.
Preissler, 24, a 1988 East German Olympic track rider, edged German professional Rolf Aldag by about one foot in completing the 118-mile Pocono Mountain circuit race in 5 hours, 1 minute, 42 seconds.Dutch pro Michel Zanoli, who was second in the first stage, finished third in the same time credited to 79 members of the 103-rider field.
Three-time Tour de France winner Greg LeMond was 55th and remains 12 seconds behind the leader.
