Three Utah athletes have recently been recognized for the accomplishment this past year.

Denise Parker was selected as a nominee for the Personal Best Award to be presented by Clairol following the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain.Those nominated are recognized for their accomplishments in sports and for helping others off the competitive field.

Parker, 18, was a bronze medalist in the 1988 Games, holds three national archery records and was named Female Archery Athlete of the Year on three occasions. She has been a member of the U.S. Archery Team since '88 and is two-time U.S. Outdoor National Champion.

She also gives frequent speeches on drug awareness to young people and is a member of the advisory board of the World Youth Classic to benefit world youth hunger.

Kylie Johnson, a graduate of Highland High School and a senior at Stanford, was recently ranked No. 28 in the country in women's collegiate tennis in singles and No. 13 in doubles.

And Royal Hansen, a graduate of East High School and a freshman at Yale University, recently won the doubles title at the Yale Invitational tennis tournament and was nominated for the EITA Rookie of the Year Award.

Hansen, who won the 4A boys title last year, was one of only two freshmen selected to play varsity men's tennis for Yale this past season. His record in singles was 8-4.
